                                ORDINANCE NO. 9670
                  
                  
                   AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 9585, AS
                   AMENDED, ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE
                   REVENUE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY
                   1, 1991, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1992, AND
                   APPROPRIATING SAME TO THE PAYMENT OF
                   EXPENSES OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT; FIXING
                   THE RATE OF TAXATION ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY
                   IN THE CITY, AND THE TIME TAXES AND
                   PRIVILEGES ARE DUE, HOW THEY SHALL BE PAID,
                   WHEN THEY SHALL BECOME DELINQUENT; AND
                   PROVIDING FOR INTEREST AND PENALTY ON
                   DELINQUENT TAXES AND PRIVILEGES.", SO AS TO
                   PROVIDE FOR CERTAIN CHANGES IN THE APPRO-
                   PRIATIONS SET OUT IN SECTION 5; AND IN

       	    	 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE:
       	    	 SECTION 1.  That Ordinance No. 9585, the Budget
       Ordinance, entitled as set forth above, be and the same is hereby 

       amended as provided hereinafter.
       	    	 SECTION 2.  That Section 5 of said Ordinance be amended
       as hereinafter set out:

       	    	 SECTION 4.  That this Ordinance shall be operative, as
       distinguished from its effective date, on and after January 1,
       1992.
       	    	 SECTION 5.  That if any section, sentences, word or
       figures contained in this Ordinance should be declared invalid by 

       a final decree of a Court of competent jurisdiction, such holding 

       shall not affect the remaining sections, sentences, words, or
       figures contained in this Ordinance, but the same shall remain in 

       full force and effect.
       	    	 SECTION 6.  That this Ordinance shall take effect two
       (2) weeks from and after its passage as provided by law.
